Lenormand Card Meanings
36. The Cross
Interpreting The Cross
The Cross is the thirty-sixth card of the Lenormand and represents burdens, emotional trauma and psychological baggage. It is the card of pain, suffering, hardship and misfortune. It represents the sacrifices we make and the crosses we bear. The Cross signifies the things that make us feel guilt, shame or disappointment, and it represents all the difficulties we must endure in life.
The Cross represents what is fated. It is inevitable and unavoidable. It describes the tests, trials and tribulations that we must go through to become stronger and wiser people. The only positive aspect of The Cross is that eventually the suffering will come to an end.
The Cross can also represent religion and dogmatic beliefs (as opposed to The Stars which represents spirituality). But whether it is representing religion or not, The Cross always describes a test of faith.
The Cross as a Person
The Cross describes someone who is heavily burdened or traumatised. It can represent someone who is going through a difficult time, or someone who feels weighed down by their current circumstances and responsibilities. The Cross can also signify a religious person.
Physically, The Cross describes someone with broad shoulders and good posture. It may also describe someone who looks stressed or like they have been through some hard times.
The Cross can signify a priest, pastor, or any religious leader. It can also describe someone who helps others during times of devastation, such as a humanitarian, a rescue worker, someone who works for a non-profit organisation, or a volunteer.
The Cross as a Place
As a place, The Cross usually describes a church or another place of worship. It can also signify any location that has contributed to personal suffering.
The Cross as an Object
As an object, The Cross can describe anything that is a t-shape.
The Cross as Advice
As an advice card, The Cross wants you to work through your trauma instead of suppressing it. It may also be a reminder to keep holding faith during a period of difficulty and hardship. The Cross asks you to reflect on the burdens you are carrying and consider whether they are truly your crosses to bear or whether some of them can be released. It may also indicate a need to forgive yourself for things that have happened in the past.
