28. The Woman / Lady
Interpreting The Woman
The Woman is the twenty-ninth card of the Lenormand. The Man and The Woman are the two significator cards in the Lenormand deck. Traditionally, one card is used to represent the querent, and the other card is used to represent either the most significant person in the querent’s life (usually a romantic partner), or the most significant person in the situation that the reading is about.
To choose a significator card, the querent can either select The Man or The Woman based on the gender they most identify with, or they can choose based on the playing card associations. In Lenormand, The Man is associated with the Ace of Hearts and The Woman is associated with the Ace of Spades. The querent can select a significator based on whether they consider themselves to be more emotional (Ace of Hearts) or logical (Ace of Spades) in their approach to life. Once selected, the remaining card is assigned to the other significant person represented in the reading.
The Woman as a Person
If The Woman is selected as the primary significator, it will represent the querent. If The Man is selected as the primary significator, then The Woman will represent the most significant person in the querent’s life, or the most significant person in the situation that the reading is about.
When The Woman hasn’t been charged to represent a particular person prior to the reading, the card can indicate an ex-partner, relative, friend, or boss, depending on the context of the reading and the surrounding cards. If The Woman is paired with The Rider, it can indicate a new person coming into your life.
The Woman as a Place
The Woman signifies a location that is important to a specific female in your life, or a particular place where you spend time with that person.
The Woman as an Object
As an object, The Woman represents anything belonging to a significant female in your life (or anything belonging to the querent if this is the primary significator card).
The Woman as Advice
As an advice card, The Woman indicates that adopting a feminine approach would be beneficial in the situation. Feminine qualities include compassion, creativity, intuition, empathy and sensitivity.
