Lenormand Card Meanings
28. The Man / Gentleman
Interpreting The Man
The Man is the twenty-eighth card of the Lenormand. The Man and The Woman are the two significator cards in the Lenormand deck. Traditionally, one card is used to represent the querent, and the other card is used to represent either the most significant person in the querent’s life (usually a romantic partner), or the most significant person in the situation that the reading is about.
To choose a significator card, the querent can either select The Man or The Woman based on the gender they most identify with, or they can choose based on the playing card associations. In Lenormand, The Man is associated with the Ace of Hearts and The Woman is associated with the Ace of Spades. The querent can select a significator based on whether they consider themselves to be more emotional (Ace of Hearts) or logical (Ace of Spades) in their approach to life. Once selected, the remaining card is assigned to the other significant person represented in the reading.
The Man as a Person
If The Man is selected as the primary significator, it will represent the querent. If The Woman is selected as the primary significator, then The Man will represent the most significant person in the querent’s life, or the most significant person in the situation that the reading is about.
When The Man hasn’t been charged to represent a particular person prior to the reading, the card can indicate an ex-partner, relative, friend, or boss, depending on the context of the reading and the surrounding cards. If The Man is paired with The Rider, it can indicate a new person coming into your life.
The Man as a Place
The Man signifies a location that is important to a specific male in your life, or a particular place where you spend time with that person.
The Man as an Object
As an object, The Man represents anything belonging to a significant male in your life (or anything belonging to the querent if this is the primary significator card).
The Man as Advice
As an advice card, The Man indicates that adopting a masculine approach would be beneficial in the situation. Masculine qualities include structure, logic, leadership, assertiveness, discipline and decisiveness.
