Lenormand Card Meanings
19. The Tower
Interpreting The Tower
The Tower is the nineteenth card of the Lenormand and represents hierarchy. It describes systems, structures, and anything with multiple links in the chain. Anything powerful that has stood for many years is signified by The Tower, including governments, corporations, institutions, and the political and legal systems. The Tower protects and guards everything inside its walls, so it can signify prisons, border control and the military.
The Tower also represents isolation and solitude. It refers to inner reflection, personal boundaries and gaining a higher perspective. Although it can be lonely at the top, The Tower offers insight that can only be seen when you rise above a situation. Look to the card above The Tower to describe what you need to see from a different perspective.
The Tower signifies a single person, as opposed to The Birds which represents a couple. The Tower describes ambitions, goals and aspirations, as well as social standing and elite society. Corporate climbing is also represented by The Tower, as is self-employment.
The Tower as a Person
The Tower describes someone ambitious with high self-esteem. It is the card of loners and introverts. It can indicate someone formal and rigid who is stuck in their ways, or it can describe someone who is very traditional.
Physically, The Tower describes someone tall and slim.
The Tower can represent a government worker, politician, legislature, judge, CEO or architect.
The Tower as a Place
The Tower represents all institutions. It can describe hospitals, schools, courthouses, prisons, apartments, and high-rise buildings. Whilst The House signifies small buildings, The Tower is the card of big buildings.
The Tower as an Object
As an object, The Tower can represent a shelf, an elevator, a ladder, or a staircase.
The Tower as Advice
The Tower asks you to look at things from a higher perspective. It is about spending time alone and rising above a situation to see it more clearly. Depending on the context, The Tower can either suggest a time to put up your walls and be on guard, or it can indicate a time to let some of your walls down. It may also suggest that it is time to aim high and work towards your goals.
