Lenormand Card Meanings

01. The Rider Lenormand
  1. The Rider

Interpreting The Rider

The Rider is the first card of the Lenormand. He is an initiator and a changemaker. Not one to waste any time, The Rider arrives in a flash and disappears just as quickly. As the messenger of the Lenormand, The Rider often brings news or unexpected information. The card behind The Rider will describe where the news is coming from, and the card in front is a clue to what the news is about.

If it is not news that The Rider is bringing, you may find that something else is on the way. Whether it is a physical item, an idea, or a person, you can expect that something new will arrive soon when this card appears in a reading.

The Rider as a Person

The Rider can indicate that a familiar visitor is on the way, or that a new person or love interest is coming into your life. Traditionally, The Rider signifies a young man, but this isn’t always the case. The Rider is charismatic, ambitious, and likes to move fast. It describes someone who loves action, doesn’t sit still for long, and is always seeking a new adventure. Anyone who unexpectedly rides in to save the day can be signified by The Rider.

Physically, The Rider describes someone athletic, fit, and attractive. They may have a “knight in shining armour” quality about them.

The Rider can signify an athlete, a delivery person, or someone involved with horses or motorbikes in their career or another aspect of their life.

The Rider as a Place

As a place, The Rider usually represents a road or a trail that you can ride on. It may also indicate a place that has a connection to horses.

The Rider as an Object

As an object, The Rider can indicate a bicycle, motorcycle, a horse, or a package being delivered.

The Rider as Advice

As advice, The Rider asks you to move quickly. When this card appears in a reading, it is not a time to write a pros and cons list or to worry about long term consequences. Instead, it is a time to take immediate action before an opportunity passes you by. The Rider warns that if you don’t make a move now, you may find yourself stuck in an undesirable situation and wishing that you had acted when you had the chance.
